Amy Koppelman is the author of the novels A Mouthful of Air and I Smile Back. She began developing the IS IT CONTAGIOUS? series after a close family member was diagnosed with cancer and her son asked, "Is It Contagious?". The goal of the IS IT CONTAGIOUS? series is to help parents and children communicate about illness. Amy lives in New York City with her husband and children.
